The Defender 110 belongs firmly in the second category. Its longer body, extended wheelbase and unmistakable expedition silhouette give it a character that is completely different from the shorter Defender 90. With its roof rack, expedition equipment and iconic Camel Trophy-inspired finish, this is the kind of vehicle that looks ready to leave the garage in the morning and disappear into the wilderness for days.

At 1:24 scale, the proportions give the 110 a substantial presence despite its compact size. The hard body reproduces the familiar upright Land Rover shape, while the scale accessories, expedition equipment and lighting details bring the character of the original vehicle into a miniature format.

But this is more than a display piece.

Underneath the body sits a 4WD FCX24M crawling platform designed around actual off-road driving. The metal C-channel frame provides the foundation, while the four-link suspension, hydraulic-style shocks and metal-gear portal axles give the 110 the articulation and ground clearance needed to work its way across rocks, dirt and uneven terrain.

The portal axles are particularly useful at this scale, raising the drivetrain away from obstacles while allowing the vehicle to maintain a relatively compact tire size. With 29 mm of ground clearance, a 55° approach angle and a 49° departure angle, the 110 has the geometry to tackle surprisingly technical terrain for such a small rig.

The two-speed transmission adds another dimension to the vehicle. Low gear gives you the controlled pace and torque needed when picking your way through difficult sections, while high gear allows the 110 to move more freely when the trail opens up.

A brushed motor and metal-gear steering servo provide the power and control needed for the platform, while the proportional radio system lets you manage throttle and steering precisely when the terrain demands it.

The expedition atmosphere is completed by the integrated LED lighting system, bringing the vehicle to life when the trail continues after sunset. The body can also be separated quickly from the chassis, making access to the mechanical components straightforward when the rig comes back into the workshop.

And that’s where the 110 really makes sense: it feels like an expedition vehicle first, and an RC crawler second. The long body, equipment and unmistakable silhouette tell one story, while the compact FCX24M chassis underneath gives you the tools to actually take that story onto the terrain.
