Highly detailed 1:24 Hobby Grade RC crawler “Toyota Tacoma FCX24M RTR”, inspired by the compact pickup that became a defining part of Toyota’s North American truck lineup and built around the FCX24M 4WD platform for trail driving and technical terrain.

When the Toyota Tacoma was introduced in 1995, it marked a new chapter for Toyota’s compact pickup trucks in North America. Rather than simply continuing the previous truck under a different name, the Tacoma was developed as a new vehicle, with new suspension, new bodywork and a chassis designed around the way North American drivers used their pickups.

The Tacoma’s character came from this balance between everyday usability and genuine off-road ability. It was compact enough to remain practical on the road, yet its pickup proportions, available four-wheel-drive configurations and rugged mechanical layout gave it a natural connection to dirt roads, trails and outdoor use.

Its design also had a distinct identity. The first-generation Tacoma combined a relatively compact footprint with a long cargo bed, pronounced wheel arches and a purposeful stance. The result was a pickup that looked capable without relying on exaggerated styling. Toyota’s own 1995 material emphasized its confident stance, practical cargo space and newly developed chassis and suspension.

The FCX24M brings that pickup character into a compact 1:24 scale. The hard ABS body reproduces the Tacoma’s recognizable proportions and includes molded details such as the grille, mirrors, door handles, bumpers and tow hooks. The factory-installed rack adds to its trail-oriented appearance without losing the clean silhouette of the pickup.

Underneath, the FCX24M 4WD chassis gives the Tacoma a mechanical foundation designed for more than display. The reinforced metal ladder-frame chassis provides a rigid structure, while the solid axles and full metal ball bearings support the compact platform across uneven terrain.

With a 153 mm wheelbase, this Tacoma has the longest wheelbase of the FCX24M models in this range, giving the pickup a planted footprint and proportions that suit its longer body. A 30 mm ground clearance, 49° approach angle and 43° departure angle provide the geometry needed to negotiate rocks, dirt and trail obstacles while keeping the characteristic pickup stance.

The two-speed transmission gives the Tacoma two distinct driving modes. Low gear allows controlled crawling when precision and torque are more important, while high gear opens the possibility of faster trail driving across smoother terrain.

A 050 brushed motor powers the truck, while the 4WD drivetrain and counter-rotating driveshafts are designed to reduce torque twist and maintain a more stable attitude during crawling. The proportional radio system provides precise control, while the included 7.4V 380mAh 2S LiPo battery provides up to 30 minutes of runtime per charge.

The FCX24M also brings several details that make the Tacoma feel like a complete miniature trail truck. The remote-controlled LED headlights can be operated from the transmitter, while the quick-release hood provides rapid access to the internal components. The factory-installed rack, scale body details and compact pickup bed reinforce the practical expedition character of the original vehicle.

What makes the Tacoma different from the classic expedition SUVs in the FCX24M range is its identity as a pickup. It was designed around the idea of combining everyday usability with the freedom to leave paved roads behind. The open cargo bed, compact dimensions and purposeful stance give it a different relationship with the trail — less about carrying a particular historical silhouette and more about having a practical machine ready to load up and head out.

The FCX24M translates that philosophy into miniature form: a detailed Tacoma body, a long 153 mm wheelbase, 4WD running gear and a two-speed transmission in a compact platform built for exploration.

A pickup built for the road, the dirt and everything between them — recreated at 1:24 scale for trail adventures.
